| Wild Country Super 8 RRP $29.95 incl gst Even though ‘bucket’ type belay devices are the most popular on the market today, for certain jobs they don’t provide the same sort of friction or control that can be got from a Figure of Eight. This is especially true when abseiling on thinner ropes, or iced up ropes, which are difficult to get into other devices. So although the Super 8 looks simple and a little old fashioned it can still be considered as a valid part of the armoury and an invaluable tool for Alpinists and all-rounders. And made of 6082 T6 alloy to Wild Country’s specific design demands the Super 8 is also one of the lightest of its type on the market

| Wild Country Synergy Screwgate RRP $29.95 incl gst Made from 12mm round bar stock means that the Synergy is a true HMS, and this means that this unit is highly recommended for all belaying jobs as the round bar helps the rope run more smoothly. The round bar also means it has the ability to be used with a Italian hitch to double as a belay or abseil device in its own right – useful if you drop your belay device. |
| Wild Country Titan Offset D RRP $24.95 incl gst The open 'D' shape with a 'kicked-out' nose has given the Titan an especially large gate opening for a screwgate meaning it's easier to get ropes in and out and set belays. Another important factor with the Titan is that it has Wild Country's unique super-safe full-strength 7075 thimble. What this means is that the screw on the gate will resist gate-inward loading to 7kn, and although this is not noticable in everyday use it protects the gate in rarer circumstances.

| Wild Country VC Pro RRP $42.95 incl gst Wild Country VC Pro Variable Controller The Variable Controller was one of the first devices to move belay plates onto another level. Its wedge shaped design, which gave the VC its name, was able to be used in two performance modes to give more stopping power or less friction depending on circumstance. This combined the best attributes of ‘flat’ plates with the best of the ‘deep’ plates meaning that when belaying rope could be fed quickly, but when abseiling more friction could be applied. |
